Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat Your Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
Step 3: Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugars together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 4: Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs to the butter mixture, beating until fully combined.
Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 6: Fold in Chocolate Chips
Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.
Step 7: Scoop the Dough
Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Step 8: Bake
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown, but the centers remain soft.
Step 9: Cool and Enjoy
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
