
Rice Paper Sushi Rolls
Ingredients
- Rice paper sheets (8-10)
- Cooked sushi rice (2 cups)
- Rice vinegar (2 tablespoons)
- Sugar (1 tablespoon)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- Vegetables (your choice, e.g., cucumber, bell pepper, carrots)
- Protein (tofu, shrimp, or crab sticks)
- Fresh herbs (basil, mint, cilantro)
- Dipping sauce (soy sauce, hoisin sauce, or a peanut sauce)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sushi Rice:
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Cook rice according to the package instructions.
- Once cooked, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt into the warm rice. Allow it to cool.
- Prepare the Fillings:
- Slice vegetables and protein into thin strips.
- Wash and dry the herbs.
- Set Up Your Rolling Station:
- Fill a large bowl with warm water.
- Lay out a clean cutting board or a flat surface.
- Soak the Rice Papers:
- Dip one rice paper sheet into the warm water for about 10-15 seconds until it becomes soft.
- Remove and lay it flat on the cutting board.
- Fill the Rice Paper:
- Place a small amount of sushi rice in the center of the rice paper.
- Add a few pieces of vegetables, protein, and a couple of herbs on top of the rice.
- Roll the Sushi:
- Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then roll from the bottom up tightly, tucking as you go.
- Repeat with remaining rice papers and fillings.
- Serve:
- Cut the rolls in half or leave them whole.
- Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.
